This year, Ravenna will again host this extraordinary sport event which every year attracts athletes and tourists from all over the world.
Save the date! On November 13, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. the 42-km marathon, in which several world-class athletes will also take part, will start right at the center of Ravenna (via di Roma). Rest assured that also those who have decided to participate in the two minor races (21 and 10 km) will feel intense and pleasant emotions!
This magnificent art heritage city will serve as a framework to those who, either for love or hobby, or just for the fun of it, are ready to engage in this beautiful race in the historic center of Ravenna and its surroundings.
In fact, the race route will develop through the streets of the city historic center, passing by beautiful ancient buildings and by some of the most magnificent churches of Ravenna, such as the Basilica of San Vitale, well known for its fabulous Byzantine mosaics, the beautiful Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, and the Mausoleum of Theoderic, all the way to Dante’s Tomb and the Cathedral. These monuments will be the backdrop to this outstanding event involving also younger athletes.
Right in the center of Ravenna, in the beautiful Piazza del Popolo, you will get to taste the best of International Chocolate in various tasting sessions of this delicacy.
In short, it is not only a sport event, but also an opportunity to visit the city, maybe with your whole family. That is why I would like to suggest a short tour – such as Ravenna in half a day which can be organized in the early afternoon after the runners have refreshed with a bowl of cappelletti and a glass of good Sangiovese!
Have a look at the itinerary section: I suggest that you also try a funny tour for the youngsters! Ravenna youngsters
Furthermore, in the many kiosks that you will find in town you can taste different kinds of Piadina, our culinary specialty, prepared at the moment and best enjoyed with our finest and unique Mora’s salami (the Mora Romagnola is a breed of pig that has its origin in the Emilia-Romagna region).
