Now that we can finally restart our beloved guided tours after this period of total lockdown, I decided to enrich my tour offer with some new interesting itineraries related to the city of Ravenna: Three safe and Covid-free itineraries, entirely dedicated to the mosaic art that precisely in this place has found its maximum expression in early Christian and Byzantine art.
There is something for every taste! From the specially designed family tour, which will amaze young and old, or the 2-hour tour dedicated to those who are just passing by but want a taste of the Byzantine city, to the night tour for tourists and residents who want to enjoy the monuments in the calm and suggestive evening atmosphere. Here below I will give you more details!
Ravenna for families
This tour is entirely dedicated to parents who wish to discover Ravenna together with their children, and is specifically designed to catch the attention of adults and at the same time engage children with many stories and curiosities related to the places and history of Ravenna. Among the tour stops you will find the basilica of San Francesco, paved with sixth century mosaics and constantly flooded by water in which you can notice some goldfish living undisturbed. The next stops will be the Basilica of San Vitale where children can have fun observing the ancient labyrinth depicted in the church floor, and the Mausoleum of the Roman empress Galla Placidia, where parents and children will be enchanted by the countless stylized stars that make up the “sky” of the building. Ravenna…in no time!
You have always wanted to visit the Byzantine city but you’ve been postponing for lack of time? I have studied the solution that fits your needs. Here is a short but exhaustive tour, that lasts about 1 hour and a half, where you will be able to visit the two most famous and worldwide known UNESCO sites in Ravenna: the BASILICA OF SAN VITALE and the MAUSOLEUM OF GALLA PLACIDIA. Both monuments are located in one of the most picturesque areas of the city, where it seems that time has stopped in front of the splendour of the great Byzantine empire, of which Ravenna was the undisputed capital for three times throughout its history.
